Access Public Records

Welcome to our site, where our mission is to provide you with online access to the most important records that directly affect our lives - Public Records.

Take a moment to reflect on the impact that public records have on your life. From birth certificate to death certificate, every single person's life is traced, tracked and marked by official public records. Marriage records for the bride and groom, divorce records for the cheating spouse, court records for the criminal offender; practically every defining moment of your life is documented in an official capacity at the Federal, State, or County level.

So what constitutes a public record? An excellent definition of the difference between public records, and non-public records can be found here. A good working rule of thumb is that if tax dollars were used to collect, assemble, and store the data, and the subject matter is not directly related to national security, then that data may fall into the realm of "public records".

Examples of non-public records include telephone records, tax records, and medical records; or any information obtained through misrepresentation, subterfuge, or invasion of privacy.

Here in the U.S., we have several excellent online public record systems available to those with the appropriate credentials in the legal, law enforcement, and investigations fields on an expensive subscription basis. However, it may interest you to know that these databases are powered by the same raw public record data that you can locate on your own, and usually for free.

Many companies (some are advertised on this site to help offset our site maintenance costs) also offer monthly, or one-time access to their public records database for a small fee. This arrangement may prove worthwhile for some people who need information in a hurry, but remember that if the data you seek is indeed a "public record", then they you do not need to do anything more than contact the repository listed to make arrangements to obtain the data directly.
